Chet:
The road race was one of my best moments and probably one of the best conditions and course for my strengths. With the tail wind on the hill section the race broke up early and I found myself in a four man break. Then the wind section became an attack fest. Almost every other pull was an attack. Finally on the third lap the attacks subsided and the race came down to myself and Blake from Minnesota. Blake and I sprinted for the finish and Blake proved to have a little more left in the tank.

The team time trial turned out just as well. Justin had the greatest pull I have ever seen, all 20 miles! I was just along for the ride.
At the end we could not believe the pace that was set and we had the results to prove it! Maybe it was the lightning nipping at our heals?

53X11 Coffee CleanUp Saturday!

53x11.gif

Who- All UNL Cycling Club members willing to be a part of our community involvement efforts. Anyone else is also welcome to join though!

What- The 53X11 Trail CleanUp between the Lincoln Zoo and Joyride Bicycles on the Rock Island Trail.

When- Meet at 9:00AM Saturday morning for free 53X11 Coffee and Brueggers Bagels, and we’ll start walking to the trail (.6 mile walk) around 9:45-10:00AM. It should take us about an hour to clean up the 3.75 miles of trail, including the necessary photo breaks! Gloves are also provided, but feel free to bring your own if you wish.

Where- Kaelly’s apartment is on the SW corner of 18th and E Street, her apartments’ stairs are on the S side of the building

Why- Because we want to give back to the Lincoln community and be active in the public spotlight! Attendance for this and all ‘public spotlight’ events are FAR more important to attend than races and meetings…

Group Rides Are On!!! (***Monday ride time change***)

BigWheelBike.jpg

Monday is the traditional 'Ride With The Huskers' leaving at 5:45PM from 14th and Old Cheney in the new Joyride Bicycles parking lot. Matt will lead a group leaving the City Campus Union at 5:00PM or you can meet us there!

Wednesday is the 'Wednesday Night World Championships' leaving at 5:00PM from 33rd and South Street. This one is fast ride and highly encouraged for those racing! Matt will lead a group leaving the City Campus Union at 4:30PM or you can meet us there!

Wednesday is also the TeamFIRE 'No Rider Left Behind' ride leaving at 5:30PM from the bridge down by Highway 2 and 27th Street (Take the Rock Island Trail South of campus and you'll run right into it). We'll probably have someone lead a group from the City Campus Union at 5:00PM but that person is TBD.

Hope to see lots of you at our group rides!

KSU Race Information

We’re leaving Saturday morning for the race which is about 30 minutes north from Manhattan Kansas. This means it’s only a 2.5 hour drive for us and we can do that and still get plenty of sleep because the road race doesn’t start until 10AM. Be at Abel Hall at 6:00AM so we can load up and leave promptly at 6:15AM.

Our lodging arrangements are with Zach, the president from KSU for Saturday night. We’re staying at his house and he doesn’t have 10 beds, so everyone needs to bring air mattresses (if desired), sleeping bags (or other bedding), and their own pillow. Since all of us guys are rugged and manly, the 3 girls have first dibs on the available bed and couch(es).

If you do not have a sleeping bag, the outdoor rec bike shop (and rental place) has them available for $14 for 3 days rental with pad. Be sure to rent it before Friday 6PM when they close.

Group Ride Success!

A big congrats to Kaelly, Kristin, Jeremy, Matt, Chet, Trevor, Jeff, Paul, Blake, and our newest member Garrett C for braving the 30MPH Southerly wind tonight for a fantastic Monday night ride!

For future Monday Night Rides, I would like to change the departure time to 5:00PM from the Union.

Hope you can all make it on Wednesday! There's no organized group leaving from the Union for the TeamFIRE No Rider Left Behind ride but if you meet at the benches at Highway 2 and 27th Street (off the Rock Island Trail) I'm sure they'd love to have you join them!
